Abstract
The automotive supply chain sector is facing immense transformation, particularly with the emerging digital technologies in supply chain management. This paper examines the emerging technologies in supply chain management and their impacts on efficiency in the automotive industry. This research strives to examine the underlying aspects of the automotive supply chain integration in United States companies. For the study, there is the application of the exploratory study. The reason is that there is no vivid perspective of the characteristics and the scope. The study design used is a qualitative analysis of 10 automotive personnel from different multipliers of the automotive industry obtained through snowball sampling. The process involved reaching out and obtaining informed consent from the interviewees. Creswell’s (2014) model is used to further inform the qualitative research procedure and analysis. The findings indicated that blockchain is a promising emerging technology, helpful in managing the contemporary automotive supply chain. This tech promotes immutable traceability with every component and part being recorded in the blockchain. More importantly, there is the secure storage of shipping, receipt, and production history. By capitalizing on the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and blockchain, a company achieves enhanced customer satisfaction, lower costs, and greater satisfaction. The paper also provides the limitations and potential future trends linked with these emerging technologies.
