Abstract
Ethnic identity, defined as one’s alignment with their own culture, is associated with a reduction in body dissatisfaction and loss of control in eating for certain ethnic groups, which may also have a potential impact on intuitive eating. To investigate the relationship between body appreciation and ethnic identity on intuitive eating, 1,018 U.S. adults completed an online survey through Qualtrics, an online survey platform that ensures a nationally representative sample. A hierarchical regression analysis was conducted: the addition of ethnic identity to the prediction of intuitive eating led to a statistically significant increase in R2 change value of 0.014, F(1, 929) = 13.4, p< .001, albeit marginal, suggesting that ethnic identity only plays a minimal role in adding additional variance in intuitive eating. The addition of body appreciation to the prediction of intuitive eating led to a statistically significant increase in R2 change value of .174, F(1, 928) = 211.6, p
