Description
This year, a dozen Ecuadorian children changed me. I went on Project Serve for the fourth time, but this experience was mind-opening. From the beginning of the trip, I was looking forward to being physically challenged through summiting two over 16,000 ft mountains. Yet, what impacted me the most and left a permanent mark in my heart, were a few children who were completely unafraid to love a stranger. I have never seen such poverty, but I have also never seen such true love - these people seem to reflect the sheer beauty of their country. Their smiles are radiant. Their love is genuine and pure with a child's innocence despite having nothing. They give all they have, and are blessed with so much more. Spending time playing with these children served me more than I could ever hope to help them. I will cherish their hugs for the rest of my life.
