Head of Zeus, r., laureate. Two coutermarks: Head right (Cleopatra?); monogram for "Ptolemy."

Reverse Description

Dioscuri stand facing, holding spears, stars on helmets. Date in field: L ΜΣ (Year 240=72 BC).

Comments

Seleucid distinergration allowed rise of small kingdoms like this one in Lebanon's Beka Valley. Ptolemy interacted with the Jews, Armenians, and Seleucids; held territory in Paneas and Galilee.
