This literature review critically examines the accounting profession's multifaceted challenges, including talent acquisition and retention issues, the impact of private equity investment, and the integration of artificial intelligence. The paper highlights the need for strategic partnerships between the accounting industry and academic institutions, particularly business schools, to address these challenges effectively. It emphasizes the importance of modernizing accounting curricula, fostering deeper university-industry collaborations, and co-creating experiential learning opportunities to better prepare graduates for the evolving demands of the profession. By aligning academic research with industry needs, this partnership aims to develop innovative solutions to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of the accounting industry.
